Introduction to Google Adsense

Google AdSense matches ads to your site's content, and you earn money whenever your visitors click on them. Google's spider crawls webpages containing the adsense code, and delivers ads that are relevant to the site, audience and the specific content on the page.

Adsense works in conjunction with Google Adwords, selecting ads to display on your site from Adwords' massive advertiser database. And since Google provides the ads, you don't have to worry about mantaining relationships wit individual advertisers.

Simple explanation - Google collects ad information from webmasters who want to advertise their sites. These advertisers bid on keywords and create text or image ads related to their purchased keywords. These ads are stored by Google. Now you sign up for adsense and add te adsense code to pages on your website. If te content on your page matches keywords purchased by any advertisers, those specific ads are displayed on your site pages by the ad sense code.

Detailed below is information on adding adsense to your site, and tips for optimizing performance of ads and maximizing revenue from Google Adsense.

Adsense Adwords Block Diagram

Implementing Adsense

The full explanation for the above block diagram is available here. Just to be clear, the above diagram is not official, or verified to be correct. No one outside Google knows exactly how Gogle's algorithm works. But it does give a clear picture of how Adsense and Adwords interact, to produce a superlative and unmatched contextual advertising network with a seamless and fully automated system, from accepting ads to displaying them, accepting money from advertisers and paying it out to publishers.

Let's get down to how to implement Google adsense on your website. It's a simple matter of signing up with adsense, specifying options such as link units, text and background color options and then copying the code and pasting it on your website templates, or if you are not using templates, on specific pages. This however, does not get the cash register go ka-ching, even if you have healthy traffic. The main reason is that Adsense is now so universally known, that just about everyone wo uses the internet knows that it is an advertisement, and the first reaction from visitors to your site is to ignore the adsense ads.

You need to do some trail and erroe and find out three or four combinations of ads and locations on your pages, where the ads work and you get more clicks. I say 3 or 4 combinations, beacuse once you have a successful combination of winning ads and locations, your visitors, over a period of time, say one month or two months, will start ignoring the ads. Then its time to change the ads and move to the next winning combination. That's why you need at least 3 or 4 combinations of well designed ads, placed in locations which entice clicks. Google as comipled a helpful guide to optimize adsense ad performance, for specific kinds of pages, such as blogs, forums, etc. You can view the guide here. If you have multiple sites, you can use the same adsense code, or PIN, to place ads on all sites, and monitor and tweak the performance and earnings from each, by means of using channels and filters.

Selecting the right Adsense colors

Summary

Generally speaking, Adsense will make you enough to pay your hosting charges, but not enough to help pay your mortgage. The cents keep coming everyday, and it slowly collects into dollars. If you want a lot of dollars from adsense, there's two simple things you can do. Increase your traffic, or start dozens of sites. Ad performance notwithstanding, if a 100 visitors make you $4, 1000 visitors will make you $40. Simple as that. And finally, Google will pay, only by check, and only when the amount reaches $100. Update : supermom_in_ny points out that Google also pays by direct deposit to your bank.

Actually, Google direct deposits my money into my checking account. I don't care to wait for a check. I already have to make several trips to deposit checks from other companies and I live 20-25 mintues from town. Every direct deposit and paypal payment remittance makes it less time consuming for me. Being the mom of 7, I need to save time and money every way that I can...

When your check on the Google Adword External tool, you can check on the keyword average estimated CPC (Cost Perclick),choose your Hub subject that have high competion among the Advertiser, because Advertisers tend to bid on the keyword with high monthly search volume, the keywords with $0.11 below are the one that low search volume and Advertiser are less or not competing to bid on that keyword. That why the Adsense ads that show an ads that some are not relevent to the content, But, Adsense ads LINK UNIT has better keyword targeting than the Adsense TEXT ADS, because it show 1 to 3 key words perlink in Adsense LINK UNIT . You can compare by yourself between the Adsense ads TEXT LINK and LINK UNIT witch one are more relevent.

Some more, majority of the Keywords that the Advertiser bid on was 0nly 1-3 keywords.

EXAMPLE:

Keywords related to term(s) entered - sorted by relevance.

Keywords: 1.( mermaid island) 2.(mermaids island)

Estimated Avg. CPC : 1.($0.95 ) 2.( $0.11)

Advertiser Competition: 1.(Medium) 2.( very low)

Local Search Volume:(Month) 1.(4,400) 2.(Not enough data)

Global Monthly Search Volume : 1.( 9,900) 2.( 480)

Even only S are the differences between those two words can make the different one your Adsense Ads CPC. If your subject and content is about the Keyword no.1, the targeted ads was around $o.95 perclick, so,If your subject and content is about the Keyword no.2, then the targeted ads was around $o.11 perclick. No wonder if many Hubbers said that they got only this much eventhough they had many visitors and click on their adsense ads. Some Keyword are around $20.00 perclick and advertiser keep bidding on that keyword, those keyword you should make a subject on your hubpages, make a good content and informative so it can attract more visitor.

If your adsense ads are performing well, has the most effective ad blends where ads and contents match their colors and fonts, but generate a low perclick pay such $0.10, would you satisfied? That took couple of months to reach $100. The one with low performing, not really blends or match the contents colors and fonts, BUT generate a high paying ads because the keyword of the subject or content of their site or hub was relevent with adsense ads keyword that the advertiser competing on highly such as $5.00-20.00 perclick, that still can earn $100 pay check in the end of the month even it is only generate 1 click perday, but if optimize it? sure twice a month of a paycheck.

Focus on high paying keyword and make a good & informative content of it, monitor your site traffic and optimize your Adsense Ads(colors, fonts and positions). On Hubpages, you can't optimize your ads because Hubpages place it automaticly, so just depend on your keyword, contents value and traffic you generate.

Adsense ads targeting your site's or hub's keyword and contents to generate a relevant Adsense ads to to be publish on.

You should target the Adsense ads keyword for your site's or hub's keyword and contents instead so you can choose the one with high paying Adsense ads and you now it is relevant with your contents.

You Target (use) the Adsense ads Keyword to make a Contents or subject keyword of your Hub or article = Relevent+High Paying Ads ( You choose the exact keyword)

Adsense Ads Target your Contents to show ads = Depend On Your keyword and contents , so , here where the Adsense ads sometimes not relevant and low paying per click, it choose for you.

Look at the keyword that the Adsense ads are showing on your hub or site, copy it and paste it on the https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExter there you choose Estimate Average CPC on the show collum, it will show you how much Estimate Average CPC of the keyword that you paste. Hope this will help and inspire
